“Partition Horrors Remembrance Day”

The Department of History Lady Keane College observed "Partition Horrors Remembrance Day" on 14th August 2025. This day instituted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021 serves as a poignant reminder of the profound human cost of the partition of India in 1947. As part of the Remembrance Day the department organised a short programme where Dr M. Jyrwa Associate Professor, Department of History highlighted that the partition stands as one of the most tragic chapters in our history marking not just division of land but the rupture of countless lives, families and communities. As part of the programme, an exhibition and drawing and painting competition was held highlighting the profound impact of the partition of India in 1947.
