This Course was initiated in 2015with the objective of promoting language skills in a foreign language, for the students and faculty of Lady Keane College. Emphasis has been laid on practicing the target language through interactions and conversations besides the teaching of basic grammar skills for Level One learners. As such, the course was designed for French [2015], German [2016], French [2017] and Spanish [2018] sessions according to the following:

Topics and Vocabulary:

• Greetings and Introductions
• The alphabet
• Personal Information: name, address, age etc
• Countries and Nationalities
• Professions
• Numbers 0 - 100
• Colours / Time / Directions
• Formal and Informal ways of addressing people

Grammar:

• Number and gender
• Articles: definite and indefinite
• Demonstrative pronouns
• Personal pronouns
• Interrogative pronouns
• Noun – adjective agreement
• Present Tense
• Phonics

Skills Work:

• Lots of speaking
• Lots of listening
• Lots of Pronunciation

Proficiency:

• A wide range of topics based around the learners’ own interest: e.g, culture, global issues, environment, hobbies etc.
• Materials for study are provided by the Resource Persons in the classroom.
